SWAYAM Plus Platform Launched
Today in New Delhi, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled the new SWAYAM Plus Platform.
The event saw the presence of notable figures including the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy; UGC Chairperson, Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar; NCVET Chairperson, Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi; NASSCOM Chairperson, Shri Rajesh Nambiar; IIT Madras Director, Prof. V Kamakoti; AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam; and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Shri Govind Jaiswal, among other academicians and dignitaries.
During the event, a video was showcased highlighting the features and benefits of the SWAYAM Plus platform. Additionally, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Swayam and several industry partners.
These partners include Apnatime Tech Pvt. Ltd., L&T EduTech, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, The Job Plus and People’s Network, Wadhwani Foundation (Skill Development Network), Medvarsity Online Limited, Smartbridge Educational Services Pvt. Ltd, Anaadi Foundation, 360Digi TMG, and Balani Infotech Private Limited.
These collaborations are aimed at launching industry-specific courses on the SWAYAM Plus platform, enhancing the scope of learning and development.
Empowering Education and Industry with SWAYAM Plus
In a recent gathering, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the transformative power of NEP2020 and extended his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing a 25-year roadmap for education.
He proudly mentioned India’s leading global position in female STEM education enrolment.
Shri Pradhan encouraged working professionals to engage with the SWAYAM platform, emphasizing the NEP2020’s flexible learning structure.
He shared that SWAYAM aims to expand educational access to over 43 million higher education students and working professionals, integrating courses vital for the industry’s future, such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence. He underscored the platform’s commitment to applied education, enhancing employability, entrepreneurship, and practical training.
Highlighting the importance of local languages in education, Shri Pradhan envisioned a developed India where innovation is accessible to all, regardless of language. He stressed the inclusion of diverse courses beyond STEM, like music and liberal arts, to ensure holistic development in youth.
Strengthening the Framework for Future Learning
Secretary Shri K. Sanjay Murthy called for increased collaboration with industry leaders and academic experts to enrich the SWAYAM platform, promising certification by IIT Madras and content availability in 12 Indian languages.
The event also featured insightful sessions from educational and industry leaders, discussing SWAYAM Plus’s role in boosting employability and fostering industry-academia partnerships.
Launched in 2017, SWAYAM, and now SWAYAM Plus, reflect the Ministry of Education’s commitment to making quality education accessible to all. The upgraded platform will support industry-relevant courses, multilingual content, and AI-driven guidance, aiming to build a comprehensive ecosystem for learners, educators, and industry players.
SWAYAM Plus seeks to democratize education, focusing on professional development, credit recognition, and employment-centric courses in multiple languages. Future enhancements include mentorship, scholarships, and job placement services, contributing to a digitally empowered, educationally inclusive India.
This initiative marks a significant step towards realizing a skilled, knowledgeable, and technologically adept society.
